Cycle Play Sites

As part of the Cycling Town developments a range of Cycle Play Facilities have been created across the town. These sites are for BMX and Mountain Bikes.  The sites make up a loop around the town and are linked by the towns cycle network so you can ride between them.

Each facility is unique and whether you choose to ride one of them or all of them there are hours of fun to be had out on your bike.

Dont forget to always ride within your ability and to make sure you know what to expect on the trail ahead. Here is more information on each of the sites:

Vandyke Road Jumps

If its air time your after the Vandyke Road Jumps are just what your looking for. With a range of jumps varying in scale and technicality aimed at developing your jumping skills.

Suitable for: Better quality off-road bikes including BMXs and Extreme Mountain Bikes.

Trail Surface Type: Expect variable surface conditions. The trail surface may be loose and uneven.

Gradients and Technical Trail Features TTF: A range of jumps varying in scale and technicality.

Suggested Fitness Level: A good standard of fitness can help.

Warning: The jumps are designed to be ridden in one direction. From the start ramp down through the two sets of jumps to the berm (banked corner after the two jumps at the bottom of the track). Please do not ride over the berm (banked corner after the two jumps at the bottom of the track) or back up the jumps. Always check ahead and wear a helmet.

Danes Field Pump Track

The Pump Track is specifically constructed to be a flowing trail made up of a series of trail features including jumps and berms. The trail is designed to develop a rider's rhythm and flow. Working the transitions (up, down slopes and corners) to develop a fluid and relaxed riding style.

Suitable for: Better quality off-road bikes including BMXs and Extreme Mountain Bikes.

The trail is designed to develop a rider's rhythm and flow. Working the transitions (up, down slopes and corners) to develop a fluid and relaxed riding style.

Columbia Drive Pocket Trails

A small BMX/Mountain Bike Trail (Pocket Bike Park) with a range of trail sections featuring berms and jumps.

Suitable for: Better quality off-road bikes including BMXs and Extreme Mountain Bikes.

Trail Surface Type: Expect variable surface conditions. The trail surface may be loose and uneven.

Gradients and Technical Trail Features TTF: A range of trail features of varying scale and technicality. The trail is designed to be ridden as a loop or the features can be ridden on a stand alone basis.

Suggested Fitness Level: A good standard of fitness can help.

Warning: Designed to be ridden in both directions. Make sure you ride with the flow of riders using the trail and that all riders are riding in the same direction. Always check ahead and wear a helmet.
