Experienced Cyclists
This page is for people who regularly cycle and would like to share their knowledge or help improve the facilities for fellow cyclists in Leighton-Linslade and Heath and Reach. Our aim is to engage as many people as possibe in the Cycling Town project and would love to hear your views, ideas, stories and ride suggestions. We also want to encourage anyone with an interest in cycling to join the Leighton Linslade Cycling Forum, which acts as the voice of local cyclists and has the aim of making Leighton-Linslade a truly cycling-friendly town. To take part in the Forum and receive discounts on GoCycle cycle training and bike servicing at Chainey's call us on 01525 635111 or email gocycle@leightonlinslade-tc.gov.uk
Help develop, improve and maintain the town's cycle network
The contributions of local cyclists are invaluable in helping to develop and extend the town's cycle network (see our cycle map). Your views are also needed on how best to improve facilities available to cyclists, such as the location of cycle parking. If you have suggestions for developing and improving existing cycle routes please let us know. Also, if you cycle a route that needs maintenance, please contact us or alternatively report the problem directly if the issue is on the highway.
Take part in local cycling events
GoCycle and local cycling groups are organising a range of cycling events throughout the year, with Bike Week in June an annual focal point. All these events are advertised on the news and events section of this website. If you would like to get involved in any of these events, or have suggestions for new events, we would be delighted to hear from you. You may also be interested in cycle rides organised by local groups and clubs. The best way of keeping up to date with these is to subscribe to our regular email update. To do this just click on gocycle@leightonlinslade-tc.gov.uk, paste the word 'Subscribe' in the title.
If you are organising an event or a ride and would like us to publicise it then please call Alvina on 01525 635111.
Pass on your skills
We are always on the lookout for people who want to share their skills and passion for cycling. Are you interested in training to be a Cycling Instructor or Cycling Skills Coach? Do you have a collection of unusual bikes you would like to exhibit? Can you guide people along a mountain bike trail or build a set of bike jumps? Could you show kids how to strip down and rebuild a BMX? Could you be Dr Bike, checking and making simple repairs to bikes and dispensing advice on how best to set them up? If the answer is yes to any of these qestions we would like to hear from you.
Be a Bike Buddy
Would you be willing to help a novice cyclist build their confidence? We are looking for experienced cyclists prepared to be a Bike Buddy. If you are interested in taking part in this scheme please call us on 01525 635111 or email gocycle@leightonlinslade-tc.gov.uk.
